BROADEN YOUR SONG REPERTOIRE A simple search of my karaoke song history in my computer reveals the most commonly sung karaoke songs. The results are in. Leading the pack is “Crazy” by Patsy Cline, followed by “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town (sung VERY frequently over the past year), “Always On My Mind” by Willie Nelson, “He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones, “Don’t Close Your Eyes” by Keith Whitley, and “Unchained Melody” by Righteous Brothers. Most of the singers (probably 95%) at our shows sing music from 1955 to 1985. If you isolated the top 100 songs from each of those years, you would come up with about 3,000 songs from the pop/rock charts. Add the country genre and you have many more. I notice many of our singers adding new songs, and that is fantastic. Some singers, however, can get “stuck” on the same 5 or 10 songs. My challenge to you is to broaden your karaoke song horizon. Access our Medium& Uptempo Song Ideas tab on our website, or ask for a physical copy of it at our shows. I know some don’t want to sing “fast” songs, but many of the medium tempo songs on this list have tempos that are singer-friendly. See a song on the Song Ideas list you would like to do? Simply pull it up on youtube.com and listen to the original. And remember … if the three or four singers before you have sung a slow song, we strongly recommend you consider changing your song to a medium or up-tempo song. That gives even more of a reason to examine our Song Ideas lists.
